Sweet Amps Tweedy Luxton (1980)

Here's the fourth and most ambitious amp out of the Sweet Amps Custom Shop. It's a cross between a non-Reverb Princeton and a Tweed Vibrolux.  Following the same idea we had for the Champton & the Vibrochampton, (take a lame sounding '70s Fender and roll it back to an earlier, better, Tweed circuit), this time we've reverted the non-Reverb Princeton to a Tweed Vibrolux, one of the most desirable circuits Fender produced.  The really clever bit about the way we have done this is that we've managed to metamorphose the frankly ugly Phase Inverter distortion of the Princeton into something really fantastic.  The distortion at normal volumes has that thick  creamy tweed tone that we all crave, but dime it with some P90s and it's pure velcro fuzz.  We also have redesigned the two inputs so input 2 is not just a quieter version of input 1, it actually has lower gain without the attenuation, so it has a distinctly different sound from the first input.  It's cleaner, not quieter.  And then we used a spare knob to add even more grit but using it to roll off the negative feedback for even louder, distorted tones.   All in all, an absolute cracker of an amp.

Oh yes,  and we changed the mains transformer to run on 240V and we put in a majestic W10C/S Warehouse speaker
